"One of the NWSCS star grads! He's a calm, cool hand, well qualified, and a helluva talented trainer. If you're in the area or know someone who is in need of an excellent dog guru, you can't go wrong with Jeff!" -Cristine Dahl (Founder of NWSCS; author of 'Good Dog 101')
Jeff Jensen is the founder and trainer of Break It Down Dog Training.
Jeff's connection with animals dates back to his childhood in Portland. He often reflects on all the dogs he would visit in his neighborhood walking home from middle-school, amazed by the connection he could make with a completely different species (he is still amazed to this day). His studious nature of animals also began at a young age, often following around animals in his childhood neighborhood and taking note of their behavior. In college, Jeff pursued his interest in the understanding of life and animals, receiving his BS degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology at Emory University. After graduating, Jeff immediately started working at a doggie daycare and eventually ended up in Seattle. A year later, Jeff had the privilege of being accepted to the Seattle School of Canine Studies (now known as the Northwest School of Canine Studies), and started training at Downtown Dog Lounge in Seattle. Before long, he became manager of the training department. Jeff's next journey in his career began in self-employment, starting his own training business, Break It Down Dog Training. He has continued his education over the years by attending conferences hosted by world-renowned canine behaviorist, Dr. Ian Dunbar, and diligently following the annual SPARCS conferences. Every day he aims to learn something new to improve himself in his career. His passion, dedication, and beloved dog, Ronnie, are what drive him. |
