We were looking for one-on-one basic obedience training for our sweet and dear but willful puppy, Mambo. We felt that fewer distractions as well as working in the home environment that Mambo was familiar with, would be beneficial, so we were looking for a trainer that would come to our home.
Jeff came highly recommended and we soon knew why.
Jeff is personable, patient, confident and dedicated to his passion for dogs and dog training.
His explanations of what drives dogs, their instinctive behaviors, and how to assimilate training techniques, were at times eye-opening but always logical. He broke down commands, such as “leave it” into smaller initial steps, so that that there were building blocks to success rather than frustration for having failed to “communicate.”
Mambo was delighted to see Jeff each session and her confidence in having learned something new was apparent after each session. Jeff’s passion was infectious all around.
We were sorry to hear that Jeff had moved away from Seattle, as he’s the kind of guy you just want to keep in contact with, but grateful for having spent time with him and having benefited from his true talent for dog training -Jenniffer C. & Peter V.W.

Jeff Jensen is a wonderful trainer. From the moment he introduced himself, both Wanda (my dog) and I felt comfortable. As a first time doggie parent, I had a lot of basic questions about care and enrichment, Jeff is knowledgeable and helpful.
Wanda is 9 years old, so I was worried she would be impossible to train. Within our first session, Jeff helped me learn to how crate train and do a few basic commands. After our second session, Wanda is learning how to "sit," "leave it," and "come." He even taught us a few fun tricks!
Whoever said you can't teach an old dog new tricks has clearly never worked with a trainer as patient and kind as Jeff. Using only positive reinforcement, Jeff's tactics are logical and simple. I was worried that a 90 minute training session would be stressful on Wanda, but she seemed to have fun and enjoy herself (the treats helped a lot).
Overall a great experience, I give Jeff Jensen the highest possible recommendation. -Jacq C.

I worked with Jeff for almost a year with my own dog and two foster dogs. I really appreciate Jeff's approach. He works with dogs natures and does a lot of education for the owner about dogs instinctual needs and what keeps them happy. His training is very direct, consistent, and humane. Not only were my dogs better behaved but I also felt like I had a stronger connection with them and understand them better.
I also appreciate that Jeff is nonjudgmental about problem behaviors. He is very practical and gets to the point of changing the behavior. Not a lot of drama! I have owned dogs for over 40 years and Jeff is one of the best trainers I have ever worked with. I would strongly recommend him for you and your pet family! -Emmy F.

Jeff is wonderful!
I first noticed Jeff at the dog-park when I was there with my 1-year old pup, Elsie. I was amazed by how his dog Ronnie would quietly sit and wait when other dogs entered the park, all with an almost imperceptible nod of his head or flick of his finger. While, overall a very sweet girl in her comfort zone, Elsie has always been quite fearful of new situations, strangers, and especially the postman; and as she was maturing this was escalating into fear-based leash reactivity and aggression, especially towards men.
Before training started, Jeff met us at our home to gather detailed background information on Elsie and carefully listened to my concerns and objectives for training. He then put together a road-map for what her training would look like.
Jeff utilizes a holistic approach to dog training; explaining the underlying drivers for dog behaviors and the need for providing sufficient outlets for them, and using a systematic, step-wise, and positive-reinforcement based approach to behavior change and training. Jeff was excellent at explaining the “how’s and why’s” of training techniques and answering questions as they arose. He was also great at incrementally exposing Elsie to novel and/or stressful situations to help shape them into more positive experiences for everyone!
When we first started working with Jeff, Elsie was terrified of him; she would cower, bark, avoid eye contact, and reject his treats. Jeff embodies the very calm, gentle, and patient dog-trainer; he excels at reading dog’s body language and exudes soothing energy. As we worked with him, we made great progress towards my training objectives; more importantly, Elsie gained confidence, learned to interact with her world in a different, calmer way, and is overall a happier pup. By the end our training package, she greeted him with face licks and enthusiasm. -Laura T.

When we rescued our dog Simon he was 3 years old and had absolutely no training. He didn't recognize any key words and would bark for attention and have accidents in the house. We brought Jeff in and after only a few sessions Simon was sitting, laying down and staying, walking by my side on a leash and going potty outside instead of in the house. As a massage therapist that works out of my home it is important to have a dog that can sit nicely and wait while people enter the house. Now Simon can sit in his bed around the corner while I greet clients, and he will only run to greet them when I allow it.
Jeff is awesome and I highly recommend him to anyone with a dog. For anything from behavioral problems to just getting to know your pet better, one on one training from Jeff can work wonders! -Elizabeth P.

Our dog Clover was starting to exhibit some less than desirable traits, so we reached out Jeff since he came highly recommended from our local doggie day care establishment. With Jeff's gentle and consistent guidance, he really ended up training us on how to approach our dog, and explained everything as to "why" she was exhibiting these new behaviors.
Thoughtful, direct, patient, easygoing, and consistent, Jeff did a great dog redirecting our family on how best to work with Clover. She's back to being the best dog ever, and we are all very happy! -Janelle S.

When we adopted our five-month-old pit bull puppy, Loki, we wanted to make sure that we did everything we could to train him to become a wonderful dog, a great member of our family, and an ambassador for the breed. Jeff was absolutely instrumental in helping us reach this goal.
He has an amazing way with dogs (and people) and taught us how to work with Loki in a completely accessible and straight-forward way. Loki is so well-behaved! And knows everything from sit, stay, lie down to high five, release, and go to your crate. He's an absolute joy to be around, and I feel really confident and comfortable with him and how he will respond in difference scenarios. Thank you, Jeff! If only, you could train my kids! -Ingrid E.

Jeff taught us to understand Monki, his temperament, and tailored the training techniques to help us effectively communicate with Monki. What it really came down to was Jeff teaching us how to speak dog language. We were provided a very thorough training plan that resulted from Jeff asking us very detailed questions about Monki's behaviors and areas we wanted to see improvement.
Jeff was patient, kind, approached the training with a good sense of humor and it is evident that he loves training dogs (and humans). He was able to teach us how to set Monki up for success and after 5 sessions we were effectively able to train him to not charge the front door barking, follow leave-it, stay, and wait commands, and walk effectively on the leash. We all loved working with Jeff! -Annika & PJ M.

Jeff was instrumental in our training process with Charlie Butterbean. Charlie lost her front leg at around 2 months of age and with her surgery and recovery time, some valuable training time was missed while she was in foster care. Jeff went above and beyond to teach us methods to help us cope with some leash reactivity issues, as well as give us an excellent foundation in all of her basic training needs.
Jeff also helped us integrate Charlie into our home and begin a relationship with our 14 year old cat. His positive methods and one-on-one approach bring great results and we would wholeheartedly recommend his services.
